History

The Longhorn Cafe opened in 1968 and the grandchildren of the first customers are now our regulars. We constantly get stories from our patrons in their 20’s and 30’s telling us how their granddad snuck them their first beer here. It was often after a football game. The Longhorn opened the doors for business just after Qualcomm Stadium. Of course it was then know as San Diego stadium. Just as then we are famous for serving the best burger in Mission Valley, friendly service, strong cocktails, and ice cold beer.
We were the place to come to watch a John Hadi game, and a Dan Fouts game, and a Stan Humphries game. Now with flat screen TVs visible from every seat, we are the place to come watch a Philip Rivers game. We are not a “sports bar”, but sports are always on the TVs. Including on our new patio. If you don’t follow the Chargers you can keep up with your favorite team at the Longhorn. We have the NFL package and enough TVs to keep everyone happy. The Longhorn is just a short half mile drive from Qualcomm Stadium. Come on in, join the local history, enjoy a beer, and have some great food.
Talking of history, The Longhorn Cafe has also become famous for our John Wayne Room. It started with a single poster of the ‘Duke’, and over the following years our customers have continued to add to the walls everything John Wayne! Come on in and remember the ‘Duke’.
